Aw, man, where do I begin? I like movies, I like to cook and to feed people. I love to explore new
techniques. I love culture. Reading, when I have a few spare moments. Travel!
Ok, so I think I will start with food.

For awhile I was toying with the idea of making cakes as a side
gig. I enjoy doing the crazy, colorful, artistic stuff like they
do at the Whimsical Bakehouse, but I also like the crazy stuff
that Colette Peters and Eliza Strauss do with sugar. I once
made a cake for my husband with chocolate ninjas doing
battle all over it- it was complete with those star things that
they throw at each other, but made from chocolate. The
Australians are CRAZY, the stuff they do with sugar! And
fabric. But I digress. I will kick this thing off with a Banana
Bread recipe that I stumbled across on a website called Sonya
Style a year or so ago that has got to be the best Banana Bread
that I have evah eaten in my entire life.
Banana Bread
(adapted from Sonyastyle.com)
Ingredients:
1/2 c butter at room temperature
1 c sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 flour
1 t baking soda
1 t salt
1 c very mashed ripe bananas
1/2 c sour cream
1 t pure vanilla extract
1/2 c chopped walnuts
(I use a cup, or better yet, the pecans from
the tree in my yard- just picked a grocery sack full
this morning!)
Preparation:
1. Preheat oven to 350
2. Cream butter, sugar, eggs
3. Sift the dry ingredients, then slowly combine
with cream mixture, blend well
4. Add bananas, sour cream, and vanilla
5. Stir and mix well
6. Hand stir in chopped nuts and pour into buttered
9x5x3" loaf pan
7. Bake 1 hour
8. 20 minutes before the bread comes out, get the
coffee ready.
9. Turn out onto rack to cool
TIME TO GRUB!!!
