In my imagery, I strive to depict the characteristics and qualities of the Proverbs 30 ONE Woman. I sincerely believe that she had to be the inspiration behind the song "I'm Every Woman"! To me, she is lovely, confident, diverse, enjoys life and laughter, family, friends and loved ones. She's about serenity and grace as she flows in the Spirit. She is no shrinking violet- wisdom and encouragement are on her lips and she is a joy to be around. People look at her and ask,"Girl, how do you do it?" ...and like Mary Mary's song, her response is "It's the God in me!" click on picture for larger image

These drawings are inspired by the art of Africa and India. I enjoy using Adinkra symbols and mehendi designs in my images. The third eye in my images represent the dreams and visions of the night, and listening to the promptings of the Spirit. In many African cultures the cowrie shell represents femininity, and the gold represents wealth and prosperity-both in a literal and spiritual sense. Indian bridal jewelry and clothing is also an inspiration to me...it is a riot of color, texture and patterns. email beth@caprichostudio1.com for prices

I think that I am hooked on Surrealistic Collages- I love creating images that words cannot express. Most of my collages are about moving about, going through changes and being "on the move" spiritually. Others are about the wilderness...we are always entering one or leaving one. They are about those times of refreshing, coming through and ultimate peace. These pieces are all original, one of a kind- and when they're gone, they're gone! Sometimes they will resurface in a quilt, but for the most part they are about process and visual thinking. for prices, email info@caprichostudio1.com click for larger image

SILKSCREENS
"Maharani" Silkscreen 22" x 30" 2004
"Kira" Silkscreen 22" x 30" 2004

These limited edition silkscreens were inspired by the intricate designs of Indian mehendi, the symbolism of adinkra from West Africa, and the wonder and spirit of dreadlocked hair and people of the African Diaspora. This series expresses regal elegance, spirituality, power, coolness (as in a deep confidence in one's Maker), serenity and beauty. Each print was hand-pulled by the artist. Email us for prices. Each print is numbered and signed by the artist.

"Alpha and Omega" Silkscreen 22" x 30" 2004

"Fear None But God" Silkscreen 22" x 30" 2004
"Three Sistas" Silkscreen 22" x 30" 2004
WHAT DOES IT MEAN? An limited edition print will have the artist's signature and two numbers designating the print's order within the scheme of the entire edition. For example, a print marked 128/225 means that the print was the 128th printed in an edition of 225. The designation A/P means that the print is an artist's proof, printed before the initiation of the editioned prints.
